Happy Halloween!
BOO!
Well, it sure has been a while.
Busy summer, busier autumn, as always.
Recap...
*shot photos for a CD (that you all should check out BTW...)
*Mountain Jam
*Gathering Of The Vibes
*4th of July in Washington DC with our oldest daughter which in itself was another "trip of a lifetime" since it was the first trip she and I ever took solo...just us girls
*pretty much got the Etsy site up and running...slow to make money, but keeping me in supplies
*did the same for hubby
*lost Aunt Pauline, our last doggeh, and our friend Vito :(
*kids came home from Italy and had a blast teaching our granddaughter RieLy about "Merica"
*renewed our vows for our 25th anniversary. bastards put 18th on our cake. (I know you volunteered, but we paid for the cake and people really ought to respect other people's wishes if they volunteer to do a job. the first 7 years we lived together were the toughest and they counted but they just totally ran over the whole premise for the party. NOT something I'm likely to forget)
*had a family reunion with all the in/laws from Iowa...they came out to the art show, anniversary party
*went back to DC with the husbands this time and had yet ANOTHER family reunion with my "other daughter" Angela and her USMC husband. The two sons/law met for the first time and the girls got to spend time together since Angela (who is expecting in April) couldn't make it all the way up here. They hadn't seen each other since Christmas 2001
*and in the middle of all that, I hit the 5 Years Smoke Free mark...YAY!!!! me!!!!!
Now I'm gearing up for the holidaze, new jobs, Thanksgiving & Christmas parties, and today is Halloween! Seeing that we escaped (Thank Howard) Hurricane Sandy's wrath and last year's snowstorm cancelled trick or treats for the kiddies... I'm about to go get my freak(ier than usual) on!
Be safe & see you all soon!!

Just Passing Through The Dolomites...
Just passing through the Dolomites....
That sounds so pretentious and stuffy, lol! But that's exactly how this photo happened, and the amazing scenery did not escape me...or my trusty Canon G10 Powershot. This was shot through the van window at 75MPH.
Thank you Canon!!
And thank you Sara, Anthony, Riely and Lidi for the weekend of a lifetime!!

Campsite Pizza
Sunday Morning Campsite Pizza
So, we made these little beauties (or rather our friend Chris, aka "Seargant Slaughter" did) right at our campsite one year at one of the many music festivals we attend.
I'm sure you could use whatever fixings you like, but this is what we chose...
-store bought pizza dough
-fresh thin-sliced Bartlett pears
-carmelized onions using store-bought balsamic vinagrette w/ figs
-goat cheese
-shredded mozzarella
We rolled out mini pizzas, spread with balsamic glaze, carmelized onions, layered on fresh pear slices and topped with goat cheese. Popped onto grill, covered for a few minutes to set it all up, then topped off with mozzarella...YUM!
At home we recently made bruschetta with strawberries and ricotta the same way, but that's for another yummy day ;)

Cheesy Chili Pie
Awesome! While the job hunt goes on, I am slowly learning to love being a domestic diva again. Well, maybe not a diva....more like Lucille Ball, but hey, at least she made people laugh!!
Anyway, while I still love the idea of a one-pot meal, sometimes you need to dirty a few mixing bowls first.
Voila~ Cheesy Chili Pie
In a pinch this can all be poured into a pan and served on store bought biscuits, or on top of fresh cornbread...I have even used this same recipe and topped with cornbread batter before baking....if the batter is on the bottom, it doesn't hold up to the weight of the filling, and doesn't cook as thoroughly as I'd like
Preheat oven to 370
I start with a bottom layer of biscuit mix and press into a greased (I use shortening, or olive oil, never butter) glass baking dish.
Prep 1 bag of Success rice (or 1-2 cups of your brand choice)
1 can rinsed pinto, black, red, or pink beans
1 can whole kernel corn 1 can diced unseasoned tomatoes
1 can tomato paste w/ 1 can water Mix all together in bowl
Meat mixture
2-3 lbs of ground beef
1 ground garlic clove
1 med vidalia onion, chopped
10-15 small colorful sweet peppers, sliced into strips
1 pk of McCormick chili or taco seasoning mix (nothing says love like Irish Mexican food ;)
Sautee until browned Add tomatoes/starches mixture, pour on top of biscuit mixture.
Top with one whole package of shredded cheese...your choice, again. I used white Wisconsin Cheddar, but have been guilty of monterey jack, jalepeno cheddar, even the bistro blends...I use what I have on hand.
Bake on center rack until biscuit bottom looks like the photo (approx 30-40 minutes) Top with fresh avocado, black olives and sour cream and ENJOY!!

Another Baby Step
Happy Birthday to my little brother Chris, my Grampa "Bubba" and my mil Maryanne :)
Glad they're too old for presents...just kidding!
So. Now that I'm over that caffeine rush and nursing a nice room-temperature tea with peppermint schnapps, I've decided to get crafty again.
This is/was one of my newer thoughts. Still on the drawing board though. I did however, make and sell 2 more dreamcatchers this week...YAY! me, and thanks, Amie! Still working out the Pay=Pal kinks on Etsy, and still getting summer creations together. Before you know it it will be anklet, toe-ring and margarita jello shots time!!!
(Yes, I will post pix and recipes ;)

Inspiration
Sometimes I have too much. Call it sensory overload if you will.
So, my niece is in Paris and it got me wandering the webs looking at photos of the Louvre. Then the Tour Eiffel. Then random Ironwork photos. From there we... (yes, there's my conscience and my inner rebel here with me, and I'll bet you'll never guess who is blogging this, and which one of us made one of us drink the Red Bull infused Espresso this morning)... connected to Ironwork gates on Decks. From Decks, we ended up Gardening. Which brought us to Lemons and we all know that when life hands you Lemons, you make a Margarita.
Its no wonder I (WE)get nothing done when I'm inspired...or "caffeinated"!

Unemployment
the latest photo set
So. I got laid off yesterday and seeing as how I was working two 30+ hr weekly jobs to make ends meet, I kinda freaked out.
But.....MAYbe....this is the kick in the butt I needed to get my jewelry and/or photography skills honed in and start living the dream.
Sure, I was pissed. I still want to kick my ex-boss in the seat of his pants. But I can laugh about it tomorrow, or cry about it today.
So, today I've decided to get the ball rolling and begin another day in "paradise"
I decided I needed a total makeover, so this is my first attempt with the new name as well.
I welcome all feedback on the posts and especially any tips or suggestions on the photography~
Thank you!
